1. Introduction
Welcome to MaskPrompt ("Software", "Service", or "We"). MaskPrompt is a Local-First AI Privacy Gateway browser extension that allows you to locally mask sensitive data when interacting with third-party AI platforms (ChatGPT, Gemini, etc.). By using our services, you agree to the following terms. Please read them carefully.
2. Service Description & Operation
Zero-Data Payload
The texts and supported documents you input are not sent to our servers. The masking process is performed entirely within your browser (In-Browser) using your device's processor (CPU).
Telemetry & Metadata
Although the "content" of your texts does not leave your device, to ensure system security, monitor device limits, and prevent quota abuse, metadata such as your anonymized Device Fingerprint, masked word/request count, and IP address are transmitted to our servers in an encrypted format.
Platform Dependency and Interruptions
MaskPrompt operates via DOM manipulation on the interfaces of third-party platforms like OpenAI or Google. Our company cannot be held responsible for temporary interruptions in the extension caused by unannounced interface or system updates made by these platforms.
3. File Uploads & Supported Formats
Supported Formats Only
Currently, MaskPrompt only supports the Microsoft Word (.docx) format for in-document masking.
Unsupported Files
Even if the extension is active, if you upload unsupported file types such as PDF, Excel (.xlsx), CSV, Photos, or others to the AI chatbox, these files will be transmitted directly to the respective AI servers without masking (unprotected). The data exposure risks arising from this use are entirely the user's responsibility.
4. User Responsibility & Human-in-the-Loop
AI Inaccuracies (False Negatives)
MaskPrompt uses open-source AI micro-models and Regular Expressions (Regex) to detect data. No AI is 100% flawless. In the event the system fails to detect certain personal data, it is entirely your responsibility to finally approve the masked text via the inspection screen before sending it to the AI.
Context Loss and Hallucinations
Replacing your data with codes (e.g., [PERSON_1]) may affect the AI's ability to understand the context. The logical or professional accuracy of the final AI output is not guaranteed by MaskPrompt.
Grammar and Formatting Distortions
During the unmasking process, there may be distortions in grammar rules or Markdown formatting.
5. Accounts, Subscription, and Device Licensing
Device-Bound Licensing
MaskPrompt licenses are specifically locked to your hardware (Device Fingerprint). Authorization tokens (JWT) belonging to your account cannot be used on other devices.
Physical Security and Shared Devices
Your corporate dictionaries and temporary data are stored in your browser's local cache. Our company is not responsible for third-party access to this data on shared or unlocked devices.
6. Intellectual Property & Open Source Licenses (Attributions)
What Belongs to Us
The source codes, UX/UI designs, task-specific configurations, and architecture of the MaskPrompt extension are owned by our company. Cracking the software codes, reverse engineering, or attempting to bypass security walls is strictly prohibited.
What Belongs to You
We claim no rights over the original texts and documents you process using MaskPrompt.
Third-Party Licenses
This software utilizes the open-source Transformers.js library and ONNX models provided via HuggingFace for in-browser machine learning processes. These infrastructures are subject to Apache 2.0 / MIT licenses and are the property of their original owners.
7. Limitation of Liability
MaskPrompt is a "Data Armor" and assistant tool for professionals. However, using this tool alone does not make you 100% compliant with GDPR, HIPAA, or professional confidentiality laws. Ensuring your legal compliance is your own responsibility. In cases of direct or indirect data breach, business loss, or loss of prestige, our company's maximum financial liability is limited to the subscription fee paid by the user to us in the last 12 months.
8. Termination of Agreement
You can terminate this agreement at any time by canceling your subscription or uninstalling the extension. In case you violate our terms, we reserve the right to suspend your account without prior notice, revoke your device authorization, and permanently terminate the service.
